We have a practical but exciting podcast this week. We invited Kerry Pace again as a guest on dyslexia explored. This is part 3 of our series with her. In episode 80, she talks about her dyslexia story and the journey she embarked on which enabled her to tutor university students online, mostly nursing students, with dyslexia. In episode 81, she talks about the importance of learning support through online videos for students and professionals.

Today, we talked about a very interesting and very helpful program that the United Kingdom implements but only a few know about. In the UK, we have a scheme called “Access to Work” which is basically giving disabled student allowance to the workplace. It is the government’s way to get disabled people into work and become productive members of society. This ensures companies will build ramps and other infrastructure that allows persons with disabilities to have access to the workplace.

Why do we have to know about this? In the UK, dyslexia is considered a disability so people with dyslexia have the right to avail of this. This opens up so many opportunities for people with dyslexia. Listen to the episode to find out more.
